What personal data PageKo collects, why, who we share it with, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- We collect what you put in the contact form, emails you send us and, for customers, plan and payment status.
- We use Google Analytics, Resend for email and Dodo Payments for payments. We never see your full card details.
- We don't sell your data.
- You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing hello@pageko.com.
1. Who is responsible for your data
PageKo is operated by Partha Borthakur, Guwahati, Assam, India. For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), we are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@pageko.com.
2. What we collect and why
When you request a free preview. The contact form asks for your name, organisation, type of organisation, country, email, and optionally your phone or WhatsApp number, current website, the plan you're considering and a message. We use this to reply to you, build your preview and talk to you about it. We also record the time of the request and your IP address, to stop spam and abuse.
When you email or message us. We keep the conversation so we can help you and keep track of your project.
When you become a customer. We keep your contact details, your plan and your subscription and payment status, and the content you send us for your website. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments (see below). We never see or store your full card or bank details.
When you browse this website. We use Google Analytics (see below) to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful. The pricing page also remembers whether you chose rupees or dollars, in your own browser's local storage. That setting is not sent to us.
3. Services we use
- Google Analytics (Google LLC), measurement ID G-5MW3ZMJRW1. It sets cookies (such as
_ga) and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser and your approximate location. We do not use it for advertising. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings, a content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on. - Resend (Resend, Inc.) sends our emails, such as the notification we get when you submit the form and the confirmation we send you. It processes your email address and the content of those emails.
- Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for our subscriptions. When you check out, you give your name, email, billing address and payment details to Dodo Payments, which processes the payment, works out and collects the tax and issues your invoice under its own privacy policy. Dodo Payments tells us your name, email, country, plan and payment and subscription status.
- DigitalOcean hosts this website and the small database where contact-form requests and payment records are stored, on a server in Bengaluru, India.
- Our email provider hosts the hello@pageko.com mailbox where your emails to us arrive.
Some of these providers process data outside India, for example in the United States. The DPDP Act allows this unless the Government of India restricts transfers to a particular country. We only share what each provider needs to do its job, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
4. Our grounds for using your data
We use your data because you have given it to us for a specific purpose, such as asking for a preview or signing up, and you consent to us using it for that purpose. We also use it where the DPDP Act otherwise allows, for example to keep records required by law. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us. This stops future use but does not affect what was done before, or records we must keep by law.
5. How long we keep it
- Preview requests that don't turn into a project: up to 24 months, then deleted. Ask us and we'll delete them sooner.
- Customer records: for as long as you are a customer, and afterwards for as long as accounting and tax laws require (usually up to 8 years).
- Analytics data: Google Analytics keeps it for up to 14 months.
6. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it, and who we have shared it with;
- correct, complete or update it;
- erase it when it's no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- withdraw your consent;
- deal with a complaint (grievance redressal); and
- let someone else (a nominee) exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
Email hello@pageko.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We may ask you to confirm who you are. We aim to reply within 7 days, and will always reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
7. Websites we build for clients
When we build and host a website for a school, nonprofit or clinic, that organisation decides what data its website collects, such as enquiries, admissions or appointment requests. For that data the organisation is the data fiduciary and we process it on its behalf, following its instructions. Questions about that data should go to the organisation first.
8. Children
Our services are for organisations, and this website is not meant for children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us their details, email us and we will delete them.
9. Security
The website uses HTTPS. Access to our server and database is restricted to the people who run PageKo, and our service passwords and keys are kept out of public code. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires.
10. Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also email our customers.
